My Racing Heart
In early June, during my 13th year, I sat in my family's living room and watched the most incredible performance I've witnessed in sports, before or since. Secretariat's 31-length victory in the Belmont Stakes. Two years later, I felt sorrow after watching the great filly Ruffian break down during her match race with Foolish Pleasure. As the years rolled by, the highs and lows of the sport have continued. What has never wavered, however, is my love for the horse. The following is a tribute to those have have and continue to leave their mark on my heart. The people, the places and of course, the horse. Some...were great champions; others...never won a race.
